Leaving Dorndiel by the Boatload

On June 15, 1838, nearly 170 years ago, 114 people arrived in New York from Bremen on the schooner Matador. So far I have been able to determine that over half of the passengers (62) came from Dorndiel. It seems to me that the ship may have been chartered to bring over residents from Dorndiel and perhaps the surrounding area.

In subsequent posts I will identify those passengers sailing on the Matador who were from Dorndiel. I will devote a post for each family (or individual travelling alone) so that folks who have more to add about these individuals or families can comment on the post.

Dorndiel To America on Rootsweb

I have created a "Family Tree" on the Rootsweb genealogical website. At the moment it contains the Daniel ancestors of Valentine Daniel and the families of his Daniel uncles and aunts. Over time I intend to populate this database. This database can be accessed with the following link: Dorndiel2America
